Małgorzata Mirga-Tas was born in 1978 in Zakopane. She is a Bergitka Roma. She grew up in a Roma settlement in Czarna Góra in Spisz region, in Poland. After finishing Antoni Kenar Art School in Zakopane (the Furniture Department), she decided to apply to Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 2004, she graduated from the Sculpture Department.

Małgorzata creates and takes part in many different projects related to Roma communities. She is a member of Roma Educational Association “Harangos.” Along with Marta Kotlarska she runs the project “Romani Click,” which for seven years now has been taking place in different Roma settlements. She leads integration art workshops for Roma and non Roma children. She has been an art trainer on several art projects, social campaigns connected to the Roma theme in Poland and abroad, among others in Żywiec in 2013 where along with other artists and participants during “Pravde Jakhenca – With Open Eyes” project she co-created an installation commemorating the Roma Genocide in Nazi concentration camps in Poland. For 3 years she has been organizing an international open air art workshop “JAW DIKH.”

Małgorzata lives and works in Czarna Góra on the border of Spisz and Podhale.
